I just got my RK36 last night! Now I got to learn how to play it! I am taking lessons from a fellow that plays about every instrument there is in Bluegrass...I cant wait to get started!

I am amazed at the quality of workmanship and materials for such a reasonably priced banjo. It is one that we can play for many years without the need to upgrade. Best of luck with you banjo journey.
	Squatty Body says: 11/7/2013 7:11:41 PM I got mine 6 months ago. Love it. I'm new also. Try an hour every night and love the routine. Trying new pics, bridges, you name it. Haven't tryed changing strings, but that's next. Guess should change now.

	rhnewsome says: 11/11/2013 1:23:53 PM Hi Fish Carver, I did a couple of things. I set the head to around "A", which is tighter than when it left the factory. I put on a Snuffy Smith compensated bridge, and a set of D'Addario J61 strings (.010,.012,.016,.023w,.010). I checked the tone ring fit, which is typically too tight from the factory, but in my case was way too loose, so I just left it alone. Also, I moved the tail piece up just a bit, and made sure the coordinator rods were "Neutral". Meaning they had just enough tension to be tight, but were not putting any pressure on the pot one way or the other. All in all, these adjustments really woke up the tone. It is especially important to get the bridge located correctly. This, alone, can make a huge impact on tone, as well as intonation. Feel free to give me a holler of you have any questions.
	fish carver says: 11/18/2013 4:32:48 AM I started taking lessons from a guy that plays every instrument in Bluegrass...learning the different finger rollls...this guy is a pro...he did not want to put my RK36 down...he does have a friend that we will take it to for the perfect setup...said he will turn it into a hot rod. But he said it sounds amazingly well...for right out of the box.
	fish carver says: 2/19/2014 7:01:36 AM Playing about 8 songs now...had Richie Dotson put 3 spikes in...went with a little heavier strings...and he did a setup on it...the bridge was on backwards! Put a 5/8 Huber bridge on it...wow...I like playin in "B"...learning FG Mountain Breakdown...now...it will be a while to play that one "in tempo"...but having a blast. The banjo is a fascinating machine...
