new rk-r36

From teakinmn on 2/11/2015 11:11:19 AM

Hi everyone -- I've had my new r36 less than 2 weeks and loving the sound and playability. I only wish I had more time to spend with it!

I'd love to hear what others have done to "tweak" their RK, such as strings, bridges, tailpieces, etc (especially the r36 if that's what you play). I like the sound I'm getting with a straight set-up from the place I bought it, but I'm curious as to what others may have done to their RK, and why.

Also, please feel free to "friend" me if you feel so inclined. I'm always a little hesitant to take the initiative and just go "friending" people out of the blue, but I like adding to my network especially if there is a common bond.

I have an RK 36, with a Cooperman rim with a Tenn 20 tone ring. Sounds really nice. I have a Kat eyz Spice bridge on mine. Was toying with the idea of getting a Fultz tailpiece but the stock Presto works fine.

I LOVE my RK36!! I won it in the BHO giveaway a few months back. The only thing I've done to it was immediately put one of my KatEyz bridges on it ("Spice" maple with pegged Purple Heart top).

Just yesterday I put my new DC Banjoworks Zebra/Katalox bridge on it (which is slightly heavier than the KatEyz). All of my bridges are .656" height. Still sounds amazing, but now has a little more bottom end growl that I had been wanting.

Mike and Dave both make excellent bridges, and they're both BHO members!!
