My RK-75 Elite

From conic on 3/11/2016 5:14:20 PM

Hello RK pickers, After trying out fellow UK5 pickers Recording King banjos ( RK-35 and RK-60 Deco ) I was blown away by the quality, tone, very LOUD and price, I have taken the plunge and am now the proud owner of a supercharged RK-75 Elite after owning a very good  Deering Goodtime 2 for three years.

I am not disappointed and its just what I expected. I just have to get used to the weight which is ok now I have fitted a Neotech strap. The only trouble I am having is getting the banjo to stay in an upright position when standing up with the weight of it , it tends to tip forward and I have tried anchoring the strap in every position...

To get the full benefit I have forced myself to use finger picks after several years of bare fingers and what a difference it makes.

It came with fitted Shaller D-tuners which are very easy to use and as I have been trying to learn Earls Breakdown they add another dimension. I will do a post as soon as I get clean enough

100% happy with Recording King, now where did I put my Earl Scruggs book.

Congrats, conic! The RK's are great banjos. I'm sending you a PM concerning the strap issue. Cheers. Chuck.

Great banjo...love mine. You'll notice the scale length is slightly longer. The only changes I have made were to install 5th string spikes, Snuffy Smith ( Crowe) bridge and replace the arm rest. The stock armrest has a very sharp edge which made it a little uncomfortable. But a great banjo if set up properly. Mine likes the head tension around 90-91 measured with a drum dial. Best wishes, Mike
