Hi,

my name is Ian, I live up near York. Only just found out about these camps otherwise I would have booked on.

My enorous size :) does not really lend its self to dormitory sleeping and got not caravan otherwise I would have come down this year.

Looks great. I hope you get more members. I have only just started the banjo and I am on a very steep learning curve.

	TopCat says: 1/12/2012 1:16:19 AM Hello Ian, welcome. There's still plenty of time to book for Sore Fingers 2012 if you're tempted! I did the beginners class there when I had only been playing for six weeks and it really helped me. I'll be taking the fiddle class this year though! There is a good teacher based in Leeds if you are looking to learn bluegrass style. Let me know if you want any further info and I will send you a PM (I'm in West Yorks). Just waiting for my new banjo to come. I have sold my original one and got a wide necked Gold Tone coming. Re sore fingers, if i go down I am going to have to camp or rent a caravan and tow it down. My daighter was also looking at coming she is 16 and just learning the guitar but looked at the videos on Youtube and concluded it was all old people :) Thanks for replying. Regards Ian

The bit about your daughter made me laugh...yes, it's fair to say that a good proportion of people (maybe half) there are in their 50s or 60s, but there is a large and growing contingent of young people. I reckon there were about 25-30 younger people (teens and 20s) there the last couple of years, with the rest of us 30- and 40-somethings making up the whole mix. SF are very keen to encourage youngsters to take up the music.
