Hi Buddy,
I'm also retired USN...3 yrs USMC & 21 yrs USN. Retired in 1995. I've been a violinist & musician since the early 60's, and have been picking for 15 yrs now. I'm also a minstrel banjo player, the only one in Maine that I've ever run into. Anyway I'm in Brunswick and also have a house up near Belgrade Lakes. I'm curious who you take lessons with? Buddy! Thanks for the post. Haven't seen any action here... Well... Ever. Only been with BHO a short while though. Anyway I'm in Bucksport and would be willing to drive occasionally to Augusta to get some playing time with someone. We sound like we might be at the same experience level more or less.

ipipe4u: I actually live in Wayne, which is just North of Winthrop. I am retired Chief Petty Officer. I take lesson from a Gentleman named Jeff Folger who instructs at Musicians First Choice and also Plays for the Katahdin Valley Boys.

Hello (hello... hello... hello... must be an echo in here)! Does anyone still check this page? I am a clawhammer player living in Gardiner and have been feeling very lonely lately on the musical front... I would love to find another banjo player in Maine (preferably an oldtime player but beggars can't be choosers, haha!) to chat with. Does anyone know if there are any music stores or anything anywhere - like ANYWHERE, I am willing to drive - in ME that sell more than just one or two $200 banjos? Are there any oldtime jam groups or anything still active (even if they are mostly fiddle players or whatever)? Hoping to make some connections! We moved here from Idaho about a year and a half ago.
