Don't be afraid to post a video or sound clip to the Sound Off forum and ask for advice. There are many accomplished banjo players here on BHO willing to help. You will get great advice for improving and sometimes comments that let you know your not as bad as you think. Please feel free to comment on the linked Two Dollar Bill forum. Keep picking.

	n1wr says: 11/10/2017 9:36:15 AM Alex: I don't particularly use a metronome, but I have years of experience playing guitar - so my timing is pretty good. I would suggest, however that in lieu of a metronome you can use TablEdit (orTabView). If you have the TAB in the appropriate format, playing along with the TAB forces you to good timing. Some other tools (e.g. Band in a Box) do the same thing. Both are more fun than the metronome. I am a firm believer that you should take advantage of all the tools that are out there to help you learn.

	WayneConrad says: 11/10/2017 6:19:50 PM Playing with the metronome is a learned skill, similar to playing with other musicians. It is at first more difficult than just playing by yourself, even if your timing is alright, so don't be discouraged if it takes a little practice. And then there's the metronome telling you that your timing may not be quite what you thought it was, which can be discouraging. But just keep with it. Start the metronome at a speed where you can play well, and slowly increase the speed. If you are unable to play a speed correctly, slow down.
