Don't know about you but I think it'd be great if we could all share how our playing is going and support each other. What better place than here eh. I've posted some recordings I've done this evening in my Media tab so I can check back in a few months to see how I've progressed, and to maybe get some feedback on how it sounds.

Okay I will try and get something to post. I do record stuff with my phone for that purpose to listen later and see the improvement

I added a few songs yesterday! I actually decided the other day that I would upload more recordings from time to time, to be able to record my progress.

@hoodoo If you make a personal blog entry linking to your recording, and then link that blog entry to the practice group, it'll make it easy for group members to notice it.

May I suggest that if you want improvement suggestions and constructive criticism, post your videos or mp3 to the Sound Off forum asking for advice. It will get more views and comments. You can then link it here to this group. Keep picking.
I'm in on the posting of videos, great idea to get more feedback. Right now, I'll link some older videos I've posted in the past. Just be aware that some were done with a mute on the banjo. Feedback requested.

Great advice. I've been listening to your guys media posts and think they're all really good. Lots of practice has clearly gone in to get where you are. Very impressed. Good advice on the links and where to post too. SJ.

Linked a few, I had already linked Two Dollar Bill on this groups page 1. Hope y'all see improvement. Keep picking.

This is fantastic!
If everyone links their videos and mp3s to here, and also to the Sound Off forum asking for advice. All our banjo playing will get more views and comments, and inspire us all to progress!
I had started to listen to and watch members of this group, so I could click like on some songs and videos, so as to encourage those posting their banjo playing and music, and perhaps to eventually make a comment, though my technical knowledge and techniques are still in their infancy stage at this time.
I can easily contribute enthusiasm, and also encouragement. I can't wait to see everyone's videos and/or listen to their mp3s!
This is a great suggestion @StuartJohn!

When you are listening to an MP# on the Banjo Hangout Jukebox, you can see the title of the song, who it is posted by, there is an option to download the MP3, there is Song Details/Comments and under that there is Add to Playlist, then the second green button is Link to Group - so anyone can link their own or other people's songs to our Practising Group.

PIckn5 I went back to have a look at "Two Dollar Bill" on TPG's Page 1. Thanks for doing that. At that time I just thought it was a great idea but not applicable to me. Now I will practise a bit harder, with a bit more passion, and eventually I will post something up in media. It was really good to read the feedback, support, and appreciation of your picking! So way to go pickn5! Thanks for your contributions, it is great we have such good folks along for the ride.

Question : Like social media sites and so on, I tend to just want to show the best parts of myself. What are your thoughts about sharing botched attempts/mediocre attempts at a song?
|
 | StuartJohn says: 12/15/2017 1:23:48 PM
I think we all tend to post the best 'takes' we have, but I think it's healthy to post up whatever you like. Personally most of my stuff has lots of mistakes in. I wouldn't post up a really bad mess, but a few mistakes is fine for me, especially if theres a lick or two that you nailed really well!
