Banjo Rookie Challenge

From AndyW on 12/17/2017 12:57:59 PM

The rookie challenge link has disappeared from the home page. There are four entries so far, though two of them don't look like rookies to me.

It's in the 'Learn' Tab of the home page Andy.

It thought that too, but I guess it depends on their natural ability and how much work they've put in. Some are very smooth though, like they've played for years. Amazing !

I suppose the 'improv' rookie might have tuned up like a guitar or other instrument he plays and just transferred to banjo playing the same. Kinda defeats the object of learning a new instrument though.

If he has genuinely learned to play like that then 'Hats Off!'.

I see it's in the learn section now. I did look through the menus and must have missed it. Ah well.

I'm not so much impressed by how fast someone plays. I want musicality. Swing, bounce, dynamics, matter more to me. Clean playing matters more. So don't be intimidated by the speed with which someone plays.

I play very slowly, and I haven't got a whole lot of knowledge from playing another instrument. I am just learning how to listen to chords changes. So it is all a bit out of my league. I have only been playing for part of this year.

Where do we find the "Learn Tab"?

On the left of the BHO home page under 'Marketplace', or the left drop down menu if using a device.

@Boadicea -- Don't be intimidated by anything. Do your best, but don't be afraid to show what you can do now. Everybody has been where you are. Some are there right now. You can inspire them to try by not being afraid yourself.

A search on youtube shows a 'BanjoBill' video from 2011. A google of Claudio Parravicini shows someone in BHO acclaiming him as a great player in 2009.

No doubt someone thought it would be a good joke to enter them as rookies.
