I was bored this morning and did a simple little exercise.

I drew out the fretboard 1-5. I marked in all the notes(Double D tuning). Then I circled all the notes commonly used in tunes I have been learning, missing out dissonant slides etc.

As I kinda expected, every single note I had circled turned out to be in the scale of D. So, whaddayaknow, although(at present) if you asked me to run a D scale in order start to finish I couldn't do it, turns out I could easily find all the d scale notes even if I couldn't reel the note names off the top of my head.

Deleteme says: 2/7/2018 5:35:32 AM We are constructing our understanding bit by bit and it will be ours. We know it starts with D. We can count and spell to fimd our most commonly used 1,4,5 chords, 6 the minor amd 7, the 7-chord. It all reinforces our understanding amd builds. I have read through music therory so many times only to have just a little more stick each time. Good job. There is an interest bunch in, "The How and the Tao ..." in the scales chapter. You should get that book. It is really helping me. Be bored today and learn some more new stuff to share. :)
