I've added 3 videos where I play along to the Old Time Jam Machine.

They are all straight in with no practice, and as I've not recorded anything for 4 months mistakes are prevalent.

First recorded was Angeline/Arkansas Traveller/Fortune. The video recorder [tablet app] crashed so I recorded Soldiers Joy and Over The Waterfall in seperate videos.

Constructive criticism welcome, nothing learned otherwise. Ignore the obvious errors where my playing completely breaks down as I know about that.

	WayneConrad says: 9/6/2018 11:18:02 AM I think all three recordings are great. I enjoyed listening to them. I wish you could come to the open stage I go to--people would enjoy hearing you play. I thought your recovery from the complete break-down was well done. If you were playing in a band, there's good odds that half the audience wouldn't notice a few missing measures on your part, and also good odds that most of those who did notice wouldn't think anything of it. So you did the most important thing, which is to not make any kind of tell (e.g. an "oops" face), but just wait until you can come back in clean. Am I right that Soldier's Joy is the harder one to play or the one you've had the least practice on? That one has a few noticeable rough spots where you're just slightly lagging behind the beat or missing some notes. Don't worry about the little mistakes. Even musicians have trouble hearing them, and even after you tell them they're there. Especially on a fiddle tune where the notes are flying by at highway speed, a missed note here or there is hard to hear. The playing seems solid to me, so maybe the next step is more musicality (e.g. bounce, emphasis, your own little touches, etc.) Get to where you can't just play them well, but can play them well with little effort, and then it'll be easy to add all that stuff.
	AndyW says: 9/6/2018 1:25:13 PM Soldiers Joy is a tune I had to alter two or three times to even get it playable. I think Josh Turknett is doing something weird with the fiddle emphasising an off the beat embellishment or something. The melody I play works fine for singing the song to. Adding bounce/emphasis would need more practice to get me more comfortable with the speed of the tunes. I'm pretty much at my speed limit on them and past my comfort zone. (with the exception of Angelina Baker where I probably could do so).
	WayneConrad says: 9/6/2018 2:06:52 PM My instructor taught me a Soldier's Joy that is pretty close to yours (maybe my instructor got it from JoshTurknett). I consider it a pretty demanding tune to play well, and I haven't dared perform it because of that.
