Playing and Singing

From AndyW on 4/24/2019 12:21:05 AM

I've been learning Little Maggie.  Here is a warts and all early practice.  It's gonna take a fair bit of cleaning up.  Singing and playing at the same time is certainly a little bit awkward.

Wondering if you are playing rhythm rather than full melody when you sing. I find it much easier to switch to doing that.

@AndyW, I think Lynda is right, its much easier singing along with rythm than melody. You seem to be well on your way singing with melody. Practice is the key nice job on that tune.

Yes I agree playing rhythm is much easier to sing along to.

I find it difficult to sing and play rhythm. If I play melody, I can sing melody. Weird, right? Nice job, Andy. It sounded a little rough and unmusical at first, but you played through it and by the end it was sounded really good. Great old-time singing!

Wayne. First time I sang it really. Obviously I've sang it plenty to learn the words but that was the first time loud.

Personally, my feeling is yes it would be easy to sing to rhythm(which I take to mean chords), but if I wanted to do just that I'd play guitar. Now if I could learn how Fred Cockerham does his half melody/ half chordal chunking I'd be there.
