Hello Andy welcome to the UK5. I am just down the road in the black country, and there is a very good banjo picker near you on this group.
Your more than welcome to join at the Bromsgrove Bluegrass bash every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at the Park Gate Inn, Dodford, B61 9AJ at 8pm.
Its the best bluegrass Jam in the Midlands where we regularly get between 10 and 25 pickers turn up for a good old knees up, we have banjo, dobro, mandolins double bass, fiddles guitarists and the Landlady even provides a free buffet on the night. its a country pub with great atmosphere and plenty of parking.
We range from beginners to professionals, we are also lucky enough to have the world class violinist Pete Hartley regularly attend. next one is Jan 25th

Conic do you play all night or is it set down chat get tips ect ect then play only asking as i went to the boat inn in ironbridge 3 weeks ago as i heard on facebook there is a meet each week they all play tenor and not the chatty type so i left.

Its very chatty, lots of tips and no tenor banjos, mostly scruggs style, there is one 5 string player who has an interesting style a bit like pete seeger.
If you look at the third subject on the UK5 group "Andys Banjo workshop ", is on tomorrow just past stoke on trent and is all about playing in different styles and would really suit you. contact Andy if you can make it as I think there are spare spaces, And is a very good teacher and you will learn a lot from him
