I have a had goodtime 2 for about 4 years now which I pick with the resonator off. Its very well made, stays in tune quite well, very light, quite loud and it sounds great.
I use it every day, jamming at loads of festivals and also down the pub at least twice a week,
It suits me as a bluegrass scruggs banjo. but they are not cheap new so if you have a good deal go for it

Flat tension hook's, not enough tension hook's, scarf joint on m/c head, terrible sort of etched inlay's. I could go on for hour's about these Banjo's, and i have owned one, so i do know a bit about them (didnt have it for very long) You are far better off for pickin with a Fender FB55, Ozark California, or an RK35, or even a dirty 30's. As a starter picker in the UK you are a bit restricted on choice of Banjo. The main Banjo dealer in the UK sell's these cigar box Banjo's, and really pump's them up like the King's new clothes. People just can see when the wool is being pulled over there eye's...

The best way to find out is to try one out for yourself, they sound ok-ish but they are a little on the pricey side considering how they are constructed in my view. But also consider that a flashy banjo full of mother of pearl bling doesn't necessarily mean that it's a good banjo...

I love my Goodtime. I use it and abuse it. I like the sound with or without the resonator. Being built in the US brings the price up. I bought second end and never regretted it.
