Picki'n pattern for Gentle on my Mind

From PaulMurray on 5/20/2019 1:35:51 AM

Hello Chums,  have you seen the Ashley Campbell/ Carl Jackson clip of "Gentle on my Mind" ?   link here if not: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UwdhqEFbQU&feature=youtu.be

Anyway,  I NEED to know the pickin' pattern Ashley is using, (not chords/or solo) just the picking sequence for the body of the song. I've got:                               4  2  1  4  1 2 3 1     with the help of my banjo Teacher,  but I cannot get it to sound right,       Anyone work it out/know it ?       all   help appreciated.    regds

Hello Paul, looks like your on the right track there, At the 22sec stage I hear it as follows below, and its a bit syncopated also I think the fretting hand is very important.
T M T M T I T I
3 1 3 1 5 2 3 1

I do. I used to transcribe with a two speed tape recorder, then I converted a casette deck with a double speed motor and now I juggling a bit with Audacity...
Here's my addition for the F#m (= Em capo2) chord, leading back to the E (- D capo2) chord:

nice job Bruno, you cracked it.
Are you performing in the UK this year, it would be great if you also did some workshops.

Unfortunately we had to pass this year.
It turned out to be too uncertain as to what would be the rules that visiting (by then: possibly foreign) musicians would be facing this summer.
Besides, we had no clue if and when the situation would change. We still don't.
And if worst comes to worst, our UK tours might come to an end altogether.
Because, if the UK really leaves the EU, free exchange of our intangible cultural heritages will be a thing of the past.
(Full) Professional musicians with backing of agencies and with enough money to burn won't be affected that much, but its part timers like me, that can't cope with work permits and/or ‘who knows what’ other expenses will be thrown at them and thus won't be able to afford coming across and play any longer.
Until now it's been possible for us combining spending holidays and performing at a bearable price, but the need for bringing our own money in order to perform somewhere would force me to rethink.
Because I consider charging gigs, for what they'd really cost me, a no go.
If I were really wealthy I'd do it anyway, but since I'm not, I don’t have that choice.
About workshops, a few years back I did one together with Chris Cooper and I believe we've been of a real help for those attending.
But all offers I made for workshops since, remained unanswered.
I can think of only two possible reasons:
Most players feel there’s no need for improving over what they're doing now.
And: ‘How in the world could a Dutch player be good enough to teach them anything’?
Fair enough, I’m sometimes catching myself thinking the latter as well... ;-) But I’m grabbing any chance to learn something extra.
Sorry for being the bringer of such bad news, I'm really hoping for better news in the end.
Making up for all this misery, we can still communicate on line....

Bruno
