Just like to say thank's to everyone who attended today. The day didnt start well. I got a call from Stu William's, who was booked to do the advanced Workshop, saying he was ill, and couldnt attend due to catching a Virus, and he had been throwing up all night. Oh crap what was i gonna do? Well i should not have worried Joe Mac, and Paul Bienek stepped up to the plate, and did a great Workshop. Paul did a couple of C/H number's at the end, that were just fantastic, and we even got Tom Travis, to sing us a few Song's. I really dont know how to thank everyone who came. Perhap's we can do it again sometime ? :) :)

Great player is Paul, never knew he played clawhammer though. Saw him playing a Griffin in Worcester years ago

Cheers Eddie - I appreciate all the effort you & the other guys & gals put in! It was nice to see so many banjo heads in one place.
Joe's 1st workshop was the best 'all in one' nuts & bolts primer I've seen, and Paul's clawhammer was stunning too. Also great to see Tom Travis looking so well. So thanks again!
PS: to who whoever put the angled pro-piks in the raffle - I played with them for a couple of hours when I got home & they're brilliant...

It was another great day. thanks to everyone who helped make it a success. I'm pleased you enjoy the picks Ivor, despite Joe's disparaging remarks.
If another meeting could be arranged "Up North", later in the year I wonder how many might be interested?

As a new member to UK5 I was looking forward to meeting the group. What an outstanding day it was , for anybody who did not make it let me tell you how professional everybody was, I learnt more in one day paying close attention to the workshops with many examples explanations and demonstrations than the three years as a picker and it was free, As for the jam session later in the evening I had the best time ever, very hard work trying to keep up with the experts but great fun. Lets not forget the Guitar pickers and Singers who were also amazing, we even did a BG version of "Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness" The food laid on was very good, A great day with a great bunch of folks, an outdoor summer session would be good with a charity BBQ.

So glad everybody enjoyed it. We were at the Wharf tonight for our Pick, it's on every other Thursday, if anyone's near enough to attend. We normally get about 8, or 9 attending. Everyone is welcome whatever level, just come and Jam :)
