Buzzing sound on my Banjo

During the last couple of weeks or so my banjo has started to make a vibrating/buzzing sound when I play. It's not a year old and is a Gold Tone 100. Any thoughts how to rectfy this?

	bournio says: 9/18/2013 2:27:49 PM It could be all sorts of things, I'll start with this one: is it buzzing when fretted, when open or all the time? If it's when fretted, check the neck relief, frets.com probably has a guide. If it's when played open, the nut may be worn, it may need replacing. If it's all the time, then check everything mechanical from the top: Are the screws holding the tuning cogs tight? Is the truss rod cover screwed on? Are all the nuts holding the head on done up? Does the tailpiece have some adjustment? Mine had a screw that buzzed when loose. Are the coordinator rods in the back loose? If you find one of these bus don't know how best to rectify it, check frets.com or ask a repairman.

	Twangmeister says: 3/13/2014 11:22:34 AM I had something similar on an acoustic guitar of mine and it turned out to be the truss rod vibrating in sympathy with one particular note. Is yours only buzzing with one note or is it more general? There are a lot more parts that can work loose on a banjo than a guitar so check all of those very carefully as it could be something as small as a small screw on one of the tuning pegs.
	Maria C says: 3/13/2014 1:41:31 PM Thanks for the helpful comments , a friend spotted that the arm rest had a loose screw and a was very slightly bent and once that was tightened and straightened the problem was solved ... simples !
