I have a Vega that I bought new in 1984. As far as I can determine it is of the Galaxy Trading Co. Era. I do not know the model designation, but it has the same inlays as Stringbean's banjo. It originally had a Tubaphone tone ring, 7 ply rim, and shoes & hooks. In 1987, I bought a Sullivan Pro2 pot assembly and set it up for bluegrass. It has the pie cut resonator with a pearl Vega inlay in the center. It's a very beautiful instrument! Does anyone have any info on these type banjo's? I have only seen 2 others. One on ebay a few years ago, and one here. There is an old ad with pics that match mine exactly.
