Hi guys. So, I took a sick day this week and used it to spend some quality time with my Granada and RB-4. The 4 is a 2002, which means it should've had a Kulesh ring. It did, but what suprised me was the weight: 3 lbs 7 oz. Most Kulesh rings seem to be a little lighter than that.
I also used the opportunity to re-fit the ring on the Granada, which I noticed was way too tight. I pulled it off and checked to make sure it was a Crowe ring (it was- 2 lbs 15.6 oz; right on target) and used a snap-off knife to hand-lathe the rim until I got a perfect fit. It really barks now.
Incidentally, I found that the top coordinator rod on the Granada was improperly threaded and I had to re-tap it, which was no problem. Thank you to Greg Boyd of Greg Boyd's Fine Instruments (gregboyd.com) for saving me some money and time by not having to order a new rod.
And thanks, Rich, for shaking the tree.
J
