WooHoo! That was better than hitting it big at Vegas (IMHO). Tell us more about it.

The guys at WM are finishing up the build of a conversion neck for my 1917 Tubaphone and I hope to have it in my gnarly hands soon after the first of the year.

For sure Ron and Dorlea are on my agenda if I ever get loose from home.

There, I put up a picture of it from the BHO ads.

It's beautiful, BTW and I know you'll love playing it.

I've got Renaissance/Elite Amber heads on all of my banjos except the Tubaphone and it may get one too.

I see that you've got a wooden tone ring on that WM. I've got an RK with a wooden tone ring and I put nylon strings on it and it sounds wonderful. I first tried Nylguts and though they sounded fabulous they were just too floppy for me to keep on. I next put a set of Chris Sands mediums on it and though the tone is not quite as good as the Nylguts they're firmer under finger and I think they're the best choice. Nylons are a lot easier on your fingers than steel too if you haven't developed thick callouses.

I don't know when your banjo was made but the lacquer on mine made the neck a bit grabby, so I lightly steel wooled the underside with 4/0 and then put some hard floor wax on it and now it's fine in my hand.
