Rattlesnake and Cobra Banjo Straps

From Smelly Old Gibby on 7/30/2011 7:18:00 PM

THIS MAY BE OF INTEREST TO YOU YATES RATTLESNAKE OWNERS (like me):

I have a fried that has recently made me a banjo strap out of rattlesnake hide lined with orthopedic leather.  It came out SO nice and the quality was amazing.  It is the Rolls Royce of Banjo Straps.  There is definitely a "WOW" factor unlike any strap I have ever seen. I told her I could probably sell them, and asked her if I sold a few would she make me another (for free) - she agreed.

So --- The price for these custom made straps is $200.  The reason being that it takes a whole rattlesnake or cobra (and a large one at that) to make one strap.  What are your thoughts on selling a strap for this?  I understand the price is higher than most, but this is something you just cannot find anywhere.  I know guys that spend $150 on prewar fingerpicks or $160 on a capo, so I am thinking there is a market for something of this rarity and quality.  What do you think?  Your feedback is valuable in the decision to make more of these banjo straps.  No market = no straps.

Below is a picture of a rattlesnake guitar strap so you get the idea.  However, mine is banjo (photo coming soon)
