Fantastic sounding! Chris (OMB) - when you get yours I would really love to hear your detailed analysis of the difference in tone between it and your BT-1949.

I recently adopted number 9. One of the best adoptions that I could have ever done.

I just received #18 about a month ago! What a hoss! I call it ol hoss actually!! Way more than exceeded my expectations!

kaybone says:
2/1/2014 7:53:03 AM

Looks like I have to update the list to add your #18, and I have to find 15 thru 17 now too since I kind of lost track. Still love my #8!!.
Went to a jam a few weeks back and it was great to see others reactions to the Skillet Head when I pulled it out!
I also had it played at me for the first time, since mine is a lefty, and a guy could do it and played it in front of me. I couldn't be more thrilled. That banjo sounds great! Yours will too

jmoliver says:

I am considering purchasing a Skillet Head. I would appreciate having a chance to speak directly with an owner of one though to ask a few questions. If you would be willing to speak with me, please email me at johnmarkoliver@me.com, call or text me at 561-602-3855. Thank you, JMO

Robby Boone says:
5/6/2014 9:07:30 AM

Hey guys........I talked to Warren this weekend and asked what "number" the Skilletheads were up to and he said that he thought 20. Where are the others owners? Would love to see an updated list!

We had a chance to have the first four built all together again this weekend, hopefully I will have some pics soon.

Hey congrats you guys 22, 23, 24. I was the one keeping the "unofficial list! I'll try and keep back on it again and track down the missing numbers!! Welcome to the Skillet Head Gang!! Just one Heck of an Instrument!!

kaybone says:
12/1/2014 8:35:01 PM

I beleive you and I are sibling banjos then. Built at the same time from the same block of mahogany. I have a picture of our necks side by side, and also some build pics of your banjo that Jim shared with me when he was having it built. I'll get those to you when I can

nograss5150 says:

OK, I'll cop to having #15. Didn't want you guys to feel bad 'cause this one still drips Warren's and Ron's mojo. What a monster.

bulldog bob says:
12/2/2014 7:37:24 AM

I have Skillet Head #16, and BT-1949 #1, and will be listing both for sale shortly.

kaybone says:
12/2/2014 8:01:10 AM

Thanks bulldog bob. Those are both terrific banjos, wondered why you were selling them both? If the BT-1949 was a lefty I'd probably jump on that one.
Let me know when you list for sale, I have a buddy that might be interested.

Also the Sibling comment above was aimed at GlennB's #&7

bulldog bob says:
12/2/2014 8:21:42 AM

Just tell him to PM me, I have others and play these the least so its time to thin them out.

kaybone says:
12/5/2014 3:00:54 PM

drbluegrass says:
8/6/2015 7:40:06 AM

Embarrassed to say I haven't checked my number yet after having my SH for a month. I'll check it tonight. Where is the number? I picked it up at Morgan Music about a month ago. I'm so excited to play my SH and the BT1949 I purchased along with it, I forgot to check serial numbers on them. Please don't flog me.

Tom

kaybone says:
8/6/2015 10:40:56 AM

Number should be written in chalk, old school like, by Warren on the inside of your resonator -no flogging necessary

Premsore says:
9/20/2015 7:21:49 PM

On #7 does Glenn Bradford count, since he's a dealer and has it for sale at his store? Hopefully it will find a good home with the right hands. It's an awesome 5 and I'd still have it if it had the neck of my RS walnut. My RS has spoiled me.

kaybone says:
9/20/2015 8:22:53 PM

Oh I guess so for now on that #7, since this just for fun and there aren't any skilled head police that I know of yet.
Just found who #19 is and still looking for #20 & 21, and the SHs after #24. Don't know how many now Warren has made to date.

SH#16 has had a new home for a few months and is a great banjo! Warren showed me the page in his book when it was made and shipped.

Thank you Bulldog Bob!

kaybone says:
9/23/2015 5:01:28 PM

Why only a few months? Are you a retailer?

J Ward says:
9/23/2015 7:00:45 PM

No - I own it and bought it from BB just a few months ago - it's now my new gig monster! I can't imagine ever parting with it. I took it by Warrens shop for a look over and he put his new bridge on it - he loves to see the babies come home! It's a killer banjo.

kaybone says:
9/24/2015 7:07:56 PM

Just added you to the unofficial list. Still hunting for who 20 & 21 are - also anyone know what Skillet Head number Warren has got us up to now these days?

Robby Boone says:
1/4/2016 11:59:17 AM

#17 just came in to the store for an adjustment. It now belongs to Cody Villines in Arkansas. Said he bought it from the supposed original owner in the Kansas City area. If you would add this name to your updated list.....Thanks!!!!!!

Robby Boone says:

I am blessed to have just purchased #6. It’s in transit now and I am like a kid waiting to open presents on Christmas morning! Can’t wait to get it. I’ve wanted one of these things since I first saw/heard one. I’m quite certain I won’t be disappointed

I've got 6767-24 from Bob Anderson. Love this banjo. My name is Jacob Littleton. Plan on keeping this thing and hope to take it to Warren for a good setup this year.

NWBanjo says:

I just bought #36 from Morgan Music. It’s on its way and I can’t wait to get it! It was built sometime in late 2020 (I haven’t seen the label yet). This one has a sunken old mahogany neck and a “thermal aged” (torrefied?) rim according to Warren. I’m proud to be a Yates SH owner!

I have 23 26 and 36.
