New guy

From Leslie R on 1/2/2013 8:36:43 AM

I placed an order for a SH yesterday. I think it will take 8-9 weeks. I'm not concerned about the time, I figure it will get here when it gets here. I was never a fan of the Bowtie look but it's starting to grow on me. I decided on a SH because of the tone. I was listening to a group jam on YouTube, of some prewar Gibsons, and there was a SH in the group. I thought it had the best sound in the group. I had to look under comments to see what banjo it was. After that I listened to every YouTube video and every sound clip I could find. I am blown away by the tone which was consistent in every sound clip. I finally decided I had to have one.

Could you steer us to that group jam link with the SH? I'd love to hear that too! Thanks.

It was 4-6 weeks ago, and I do not recall exactly how I got there. But it's there I promise you. I will see if I can relocate it.

First off, I have to apologize for a sometimes faltering memory. It was not a group jam, but a comparison done by a single individual, Donnie Little, at Banjothon 2012. He played (compared) a 1936 Granada, a 1938 RB75, and a SH. I thought the SH was the best sounding banjo.
See if you agreee.

I am a little slow in responding, but thank you, and YES, the SH is definitely the best sounding, to my ears at least. I would rank them SH, the RB75, and lastly the Granada. Congrats on your new Skillethead! I saw Ron pick two weeks ago and his sounded awesome...

In hindsight group jam was not an accurate description. It was a single individual,Don Little, banjothon, 2012. I don't know how to c/p on an iPhone, but it's easy to find on YouTube. I hope you check it out and post a comment.
