I had an original Yates Ron Stewart model a few years ago, but I sold it on a whim. I played a BT-1949 (maple), an RS-75 (mahogany), and an RS-33 (mahogany) this weekend, while I was at the Starvy Creek Festival. Morgan Music (Alvin Deskins) sets up a little on-site store for the festival. My favorite was the tried and true RS-33. It is now a new member of my stable!

	Beardog says: 7/7/2014 2:44:51 PM I had just assumed that I would prefer something like a BT-1949, Skillethead, RS-75, etc. The surprising thing to me was that I immediately preferred the RS-33, without any doubt. I had several esteemed friends listen as I played all the banjos, and everyone of them picked the -33 as the best of the bunch, in my hands, without me telling them which banjo I liked best. Kind of funny how reality and expectations don't often coincide!

I have a Mahogany RS 33 also and was very curious as to how the other new models would sound like in comparison. They weren't even available when I got mine and some of the clips I've heard have been very impressive. It is comforting to hear your preference for the "33. As a matter of fact, your old soundclip of Ron playing your previous "33 was instrumental in my purchase of mine. When you put your old one up for sale, I already had my order in for a new one! Otherwise I would have jumped on yours. It was a good deal with the Keith tuners and the fancy case. Anyway, I hope you thoroughly enjoy your new one! I will be watching for sound-clips/videos.
