Played three finger style banjo since 1977. After years of different bluegrass banjos, my long time friend John Balch got me interested in clawhammer openback banjos and music. From there I have collected and tinker with fiddle, mandolin, a 1954 Swingmaster Kay Bass, a host of dobros, and dulcimers. I do nothing overly well but am somewhat able to hang with folks more interesting and able musically. I suppose it has allowed me to meet and enjoy talented folks for many years while enjoying playing at whatever level I was at - at whatever time.
