Biggest hurdle to learning any instrument is finding a good teacher, I convinced myself that I would find one if I tried hard enough and had a banjo to play. Buy the banjo first and then find the teacher, thank heavens for the internet as otherwise I would have been picking rolls for ever and listening to learning CDs. No musical training but I'm picking up tunes and speed slowly but surely, old fingers take some training to do what you want them to do and Mr Arth Ritis sometimes interferes with my progress.
