It's always been hard to find a soft gig bag that accommodates a Long neck banjo. I have two Gibson Long Necks (Rb-175 and RB-180) with hard shell cases. Searching for a regular, lighter soft case for these is a joke. Only one company (to my knowledge) makes a gig bag for long necks. Gold Tone at about $80.
I just bought a bass guitar gig bag that fits. A Donner Bass guitar gig bag. It's long enough, wide enough, and padded enough to fit my Gibson's into. Now, I put some padding at the bottom and top, and underneath the long neck, and it works fine.
I carry a 6 string, a 12 string, and a long neck banjo to gigs in a larger grocery type push cart, plus stands, chords, etc. and the extra space and lighter weight helps a lot. All instruments are in Gig bags. What a difference!
If you are playing 2-4 gigs a month, this really helps....without sacrificing protection to your instruments.
