I haven't had any formal lessons yet but I'm trying to pick up the banjo once a week and work on my technique. I need to get lessons on dvd so that I can learn some real chords. I just love the sound of the banjo, and will work on learning a tune this year. Thanks again for all the encoragement and advice.  Joe.

I am from the midwest, but on the east coast now. I was privately taught violin for 2 years, then in catholic school i played folk guitar for a year. i am mechanically inclined and enjoy fixing and making all kinds of things. On a whim, I bought a broken banjo at a flea market for $10. I am more of a luthier than a musician, lol.
