When I am excited because the best banjo player in the area comes to my home for a jam !!!! and I get to hear him play all evening while I play my fiddle....and we have a Good time!!! and then I get out MY banjo  and after two times through a tune HE kicks up his foot...VERY HUMILIATING... I get that a lot..Banjo lessons come in many forms..

I went to the 2nd annual Battleground, Indiana festival and got hooked on fiddle and banjo. That was at least 30 years ago. I jam weekly, teach a few youngsters and make a few instruments. I prefer the trial and error method of learning and shy away from formal instruction on instrument making and learning tunes. I do however, highly respect the opinions of Banjo Hangout members. So, that makes me a "hacker". But, I'm a happy hacker. I love old time music, especially midwest style fiddling. I've made 7 banjos, 7 banjo ukes, and two fiddles.
