I recently acquired a beautiful 1997 Gibson JD Crowe Mastertone. I have seen some debate as to where certian serial numbers might be located. Mine is 75-9711-77. The previous owner has a note on which he recorded having been told that it was in fact the 11th one created. If the story that JD Crowe was given the first 10 holds true, than would that mean that mine is the first one actually sold to consumers? I'm a 22 year old history nerd and do not at all claim to have even 1% of the knowledge shared by this community, and am eager to learn something about this banjo and others.
