I played banjo for about five years. Mainly Scruggs style, and Grandpa Jones' clawhammer style. I some how got side tracked and started playing strictly Afro-Cuban percussion for about five of six years and didn't touch the banjo. Congas, bongos and Timbales were the main instruments I played. I started to really miss the old time American folk music that I loved so dearly. I have been playing the banjo again for the past couple of years. Listening and learning several styles such as the round peak style, minstrel style, as well as two and three finger style. I still have a lot turn learn, but I feel a strong connection to the instrument. The banjo is a form of meditation for me.
