I started playing 5 string banjo in 1968. I attended a Pentecostal church and during the Sunday night service people would bring there instruments, (Accordions, violins, guitars, banjos ect.) and play them on the front pew. That's were I learned and worked out my picking style. About 1980 church music changed and I put my banjo away until my retirement in 2003 when I pulled it out again and I am enjoying it more than ever. Gospel Bluegrass is still my favorite.
