I have played guitar since I was 9yo and picked up the banjo in early 2012. Since then, I have barely put it down! There is definitely something about the banjo that has grabbed my attention unlike any other instrument before! I enjoy playing mainly traditional Bluegrass, Scruggs style, but have also taken a fancy to the Melodic style, in particular arranging traditional Irish tunes for the 5 string. I currently work as an Instrumental Music Teacher within a Grammar school here in Ballarat, Australia. I have been teaching guitar since 1999. Since picking up the banjo, there has been an interest from students at school to also learn. Last year, I started a Bluegrass Band at school, roughly 12 students involved. I've been told by the students that it is their favourite ensemble at school! Definately something about Bluegrass that just grabs ya!
