1920, SS Stewart, Wondertone

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Hey everyone

I am looking for some information on a banjo that I have recently purchased.

The banjo is an SS Stewart, Wondertone banjo. I started to research but couldn't find any information on my specific model. On my search to find the serial number within the banjo I found a date it states, "Patented 28 June 1920". The only other engravings in the inner metal of the banjo is the number "10". This number is also written in pencil on the inside of the wooden drum that I removed to get to the serial number.

The banjo has 13 frets and the fret markers on the neck appear to be a sort of 4 leaf clover.

If anyone can give me further information as to a bit of history behind this specific model and the worth of the instrument it would be very much appreciated!
