Dad had a Tubaphone and an RB100 laying around the house. He taught me a few tunes from Pete Seeger’s “How to Play the 5-String Banjo” and I loved his Flatt and Scruggs album so I got into Scrugg Style, then Ben Eldridge, then Alan Munde, then Bill Kieth. About 30 years ago I went to Clifftop and thought, I’ve gotta learn clawhammer. I’m playing mostly clawhammer now and restoring my dad’s Tubaphone.
