What are the one or two bad habits you wish you had not picked up in your early playing?
I learned to play the folk style guitar at age 16, and my popular music tastes were greatly influenced by Peter, Paul and Mary, the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills and Nash, James Taylor, etc. I am more of a singer accompanying myself than a dedicated guitarist, but I am comfortable with finger-style picking. I have played for my own pleasure and limited performing at parties, jams and in church for most of my life, while I earned my living more mundanely, married, had a child, got on with life. In recent years, I got interested in bluegrass through attending CBA camp outs and festivals. I have always bought raffle tickets for instruments, though I already own a few. I never even thought that I might win one! But, last Sunday night, I got the call that I have won a Deering Eagle II Banjo!
I hope to get advice from this forum so I can avoid too many bad habits while learning to play.
