Supertone Dixie Wonder 514

Hi Folks, I have a Supertone Dixie Wonder 514.  When I got it several years ago it had Nylgut strings on it and I have stuck with those.  Does anyone out there know if the neck would support steel strings?  If so, what gauge?  Thanks, TB
