First started playing when I was around 12 or 13. My dad played steel guitar for many years and he taught me how to play lead melody on the 6 string. Didn't play much for many years until I started playing some bluegrass / country with a few friends in the late 70's and early 80's. Got married and friends moved away so quit again until recently when I started going to local jam sessions...first to listen and then got back into playing. Primary instrument is the mandolin. Just recently became interested in banjo and borrowed an old Kay 5 string from a friend. At the time of joining banjo hangout I have a Deering Goodtime on order. Main banjo interest right now is frailing / oldtime music.
