I currently have a Gold Tone 5-String bluegrass model. I don't know the model number, but I paid about $800 for it about 10 years ago. I have not played it much lately, but just recently retired and want to get back in to it and get better. I seems like a decent instrument (I upgraded the tuning pegs and the head), but if I wanted to move up a notch or 2, what would be the choices?

I have a BS degree in Industrial Management and COmputer Science, a BA degree in Music, an MA in Classical guitar, and an MBA. I toured as a folk singer in the 1970's, had to get a real job and spent 33 years in the Information Technology. It paid the bills, supported my family, and provided funds to acquire a few nice instruments. I'm now retired and want to learn a lot more banjo.
