I posted a recording of this song some years ago. I played guitar, mandolin and sang two voices. You can find it above this one. Now I have got a new recording device, a BOSS micro BR-80. And yesterday I tried my first experiment with it. I am not yet familiar with all the settings and stuff so this is how it fell out. It is guitar, mandolin and two voices like in the old version, but this time I have added banjo as well.

This is a new recording I made this evening of the old afro-american song Lynchburg Town. It was played at minstre shows, and as far as I know it has become part of the old time repetoire.

I got a mountain dulcimer just before Christmas, and in the evening the day I got it I recorded this one, accompanying myself on the guitar. I hadn't tried the instrument before, so please don't judge me too hard :-)

I have pulled the sound out of a video I recorded two and a half years ago. I play it somewhat two finger style. That is I pick the melody line with my thumb and strum with the index.

25 years ago I made some recordings on a 4 track Fostex tape recorder. I recently found the tapes and digitized some of them. I was surprised that I could stand to listen to them. Hope you can as well.I play all instruments and sing both voices.

A sweet little waltz I have heard on a record with Boiled Buzzards. It ought to be guitar and harmonica, but I can't play harmonica, so I made it with an old Harmony parlor guitar, and a tenor guitar. Again, no banjo, but the tenor guitar is a 4 stringed guitar, tuned like a tenor banjo, so.....

This a try at Shady Grove. I haven't actually played banjo for many years, I have mostly played guitar and mandolin, and the banjo I have played is three finger picking. I have for a long time wanted to learn clawhammer style, but it doesn't come easy to me. But here I try a teqnique I have used on the guitar in open tuning. I guess it's a little clawhammer and a lot of frailing, and yet none of these. So I guess I could call it frailing guitar style on banjo. At least it sounds like old time mountain banjo of some sort.

I recently bought myself a cheap guitjo, out of curiosity. Now I am trying it out with some of the tunes I already play on the guitar.

This is an old gospel song. I'm not religious, but I love this song. I think it is very beautiful. It sounds great with some clawhammer added. No banjo here though. Sadly enough.

Here I play on my banjo for the first time in this forum, and I play the guitar too. This version of the well known song Tom Dooley, I have from A book and some recordings with one of my musical heroes, Doc Watson. He claims he have it from his grandmother, who as a child was a neighbor to the Dooley family. I like this much better, than the very popular version with the Kingston Trio. I think that was ruined (for me at least), because a danish pop quartet had a hit on danish radio with it in the late 50's, early 60's. I can't stand to listen to it today. But this one with Doc I love. Hope I haven't ruined it for you people :-) I bought the banjo in the middle of the 70's, and used the fingerpicking I had played for a long time on the guitar. I don't know if it is real Scruggs style. I have tried to learn the clawhammer style, but find it very hard to learn. So I stick to my selftought three finger picking.

I have made a new recording of this tune. Rythm guitar on one track and lead on another. Actually I would delete the older one I have posted here, but you folks have been so nice to rate it and commend it, so...You know. I appreciate that, but I think this new one is better.
