1980s Cox Crown Banjo

Posted 6/18/2007 8:44:29 PM

Wherever you find my banjo, you will also find me. Jimmy Cox said that he only made 15 or 20 of this model. She's plain and simple and has a warm heart, just like a good woman. If mine has any other brothers or sisters out there, I'd love to meet them. We could have a Cox Crown banjo reunion.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Mike!  I love the way the Cox logo looks on the fiddle cut peghead.  Very classy.  I know she'll bring you many years of happiness and the great thing is, the more you play a Cox banjo, the more it continues to improve.  They are truly amazing!

Thanks for the kind words Len.  I wasn't sure of the wood.  I know Jimmy told me when I was there, I couldn't remember if it is mahogany or walnut.  A buddy was just over and he thinks it is walnut.
