I've owned two ODE longnecks, as well as two 1930s-Tubaphone-based longnecks built by one of America's most revered banjo luthiers. But the all-around best-sounding, best-playing banjo I've ever had is the Excel-style longneck Ken LeVan made for me nearly two years ago now. Doc and I play out on an average of once a week, and rehearse almost that frequently, and it does a great job with every tune in our repertoire from 3-finger with fingerpicks to frailing. Just a fantastic instrument!
