hi bob,
it`s made of maple and it has the more solid type of page tuners, my first Para A had the cast metal tuners i believe the ones on this Para A are brass nickel plated tuners. i`ll try and locate the both serial numbers and see if the manufacture year of the banjo has anything to do with the different tuners being used. be interesting to find out bob if the year had anything to do with it, this Para A serial number is 10529 1929 model so wondering now if they put the brass nickel plated tuners on later banjos, be very intersting to find out.

Thanks Paul! Let me know if you find out the years. My 1928 Aristocrat must have had the weaker tuners since they had already been changed when I bought the banjo. I guess some of Pages didn't hold up well.

hi my other maple style A paramount tenor the serial number is 11325 and that had the cast metal style tuners on it and this also dates to 1929 very strange to have 2 banjos with different tuners made in the same year well there you go !! glad mine are the solid brass nickel plated ones as there expensive to replace.
