Note the unusual No. 2 style fingerboard (except for the 1st fret's intricate engraving) on this otherwise 100% No. 7 banjo. It is original to the banjo and it's guessed that the original buyer wanted more practical fretboard markings for playing purposes. All engraving and carving is Consalvi done.

Very nice banjo...I would venture to speculate that a classical player may have preferred the simpler neck inlays over the financier ones...What size is the head? Also, are the inlays diamonds ? Cant make them out from your pictures...Thanks for posting it...

Thank you BanjoDaddio. I do believe that in that period, classical banjo style was the rage. The inlays are indeed diamonds. If you go to my photo album (click on my name), you should be able to blow that picture up. They were all hi-res photos.
The rim seems to be 11-15/16 but measuring a rim to the nearest 1/16" is an art firm in itself! :-)
