It's one of a couple versions of Cowboy Singing by Thomas Eakins (one of the versions has him playing a guitar). He painted it after a trip out west (he is from Philadelphia). This version was recently sold by the Philadelphia Museum of Art to the Denver Art Museum to help pay the $68 million tab for one of Eakins's best and most famous paintings, The Gross Clinic.
