The Bob Thornburg gourd banjo has been a huge hit with audiences -- kids and grownups -- this summer. Here it is doing battle with its owner in Mineola, TX. Shortly before my program was scheduled to start, I opened it's case and discovered the fifth string had broken on its own some time between leaving Dallas and arriving in Mineola. I had been warned that gut strings will do this. Fortunately I have spares.
