Hi Lynn,
I'm not sure how to post music, but here's a link to three of our tunes. I'm Satisfied With My Gal has Banjo Uke on it. myspace.com/mapleleafchampionjugband/music

the little banjolele I have is 16 frets and measures 20 in. Is it a "soprano" and what do you suggest I string it with?

The one I have has 16 frets too. It has a scale length, nut to bridge, of about 13.5", so I guess it'd be a soprano. I put concert strings on it, because I had them in the house and they work fine. My choice of strings for ukuleles of any kind is Aquila nylgut strings. These have improved the tone of any uke I've tried them on.

Went to the site to listen to your music and it was great. Really enjoyable stuff. Do you guys write all your own material?
I sold my Gretsch banjolele, which was concert, for enough to service my car and buy a Kala tenor uke. That particular instrument just didn't ring my chimes.

Ragtime Annie is an original, written by Ted. (It's an entirely different tune than the fiddle tune of the same name) The other two are old blues/jug tunes. Ted and I have each written songs for the band, but most of the tunes come from old blues, jug band and tin pan alley records with a few tunes from the Red Clay Ramblers, John Hartford...

By the way, Grumpy1, I love my Kala concert. How do you like the Tenor?

So far I'm loving it. A lot easier to play. My grandson has a concert but it's kinda tiny for the fingers. Not bad, just not comfortable. I've had fun and put pickups in them. They sound great through an acoustic amp. The last post I did was the concert and I just couldn't get comfortable so I'm going to post another of the same soon with the new tenor. I've found that I can now do others in my lmited repertoire but still learning. Love your band. Hope to hear more posts or vids.

Sounds great Jim - wish I could get up there and hear you guys live - now - what kind of harp is that round your neck?

I have several different harps Tony, all 10nhole diatonics in various keys. Most of them are Hohner Special 20s but I also have a few Lee Oscars. I really love the low D harps for playing with fiddles. The regular D harps are an octave above most fiddle tunes, but the low D are in the same range.
I just realized that the only tune I play regularly on mouth harp and uke is Walkin' My Baby Back Home, so that is a C harp, probably a Special 20.
Thanks for the comments about our music.
