This one has 5 banjos and I used a Keyboard cleaning brush, on the banjo head, to get the brushed sounds from the original recording, haha. Add a bass banjo track with the tuning dropped 3 whole steps and you get a pretty nice sounding bass string, haha. This was a fun project .</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>I just improvised a banjo version of the jazz standard (without fingerpicks to get a mellower sound), and then added electric bass afterwards. It is kind of sloppy, and I mainly don&#39t play jazz on the banjo, but thought I would put it out there anyway. I did record it without click track or any ProTools &#34fixing&#34 (so maybe that could be a consideration against it being judged too harshly for the sloppyness factor). For some really great jazz banjo (in a traditional bop oriented style), listen to Tom Slavicek. His tunes were posted at Andrew Conde&#39s hangout page, but since that page is non-functioning at present, I&#39ve re-posted them on my music page with Tom&#39s permission.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The iconic song from &#34Showboat&#34, originally sung by Paul Robeson in the Broadway play and then covered by everyone from Djanjo Reinhardt to Frank Sinatra. (Frank Sinatra???) My version is an homage to both John Jorgenson -who first really turned me on to Jazz- and his then partner in crime Doug Mattocks -who showed me that you could play *anything* on the banjo if you only wanted to badly enough... And this is one of those wonderful tunes where you don&#39t have to play things at high speed or with a lot of bells and whistles to make it sound good: just play the melody and let the music speak for itself. Recorded on my Vega Whyte Laydie in open G tuning.</itunes:summary>
