<itunes:summary>I really like this song on the 5-string banjo, called &#34Green Gates.&#34 Dave Hum recorded it along with &#34Silver Spears&#34 and even a burst of &#34The Traveller&#34 in the middle (cool), but I just wanted a backing track for &#34Green Gates.&#34 It&#39s an old popular Irish reel. Of the 115 backing tracks which Dave Hum&#39s family has gratefully made available for purchase, Green Gates/Silver Spears is unfortunately not one of them. I am very thankful for the 115 backing tracks that I have. What a blessing! If you haven&#39t purchased Dave&#39s backing tracks and tabs yet, you&#39re missing out. There&#39s nothing available online that I would consider even close in quality. Dave&#39s tracks aren&#39t cluttered, like most of the other junk I&#39ve found online. I enjoyed making this backing track. Certain songs on the 5-string banjo have an addictive pattern of notes to play, and this is one of them. I can really get into this song. Other tunes (to mention but a few) that have addictive 5-string banjo patterns are &#34Chicken Reel,&#34 &#34Cumberland Gap&#34 and &#34Foggy Mountain Breakdown.&#34 Dave recorded the song in the key of G, standard tuning. I like playing it in the key of A, so I have provided backing tracks for both keys. I hope you like it. Dave Hum&#39s family has tabs for sale for &#34Green Gates&#34 on their website.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>This is a great Irish reel to learn and play. Anurakt Scheepers has some nice tabs for this song. Dave Hum&#39s family also sells Dave&#39s tabs and original backing track for the song on their website. I used Dave&#39s YouTube video as a template to make my backing track. I added a pulsating synthesizer like he uses, which is cool. I used MIDI for the bass, piano and drums. I also added a real audio drum loop to enhance the overall percussive sound. I humbly think the backing track came out nicely. Dave Hum plays the song in D minor (aDGBD). Anurakt plays it in standard tuning (gDGBD). Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

Dave&#39s family has tablature available for both of these songs and 39 more at their website. They also have this original backing track made and used by Dave. My tracks are inferior to Dave&#39s. He&#39s a constant inspiration for me to do better. I used Dave&#39s recording as a template for my backing track. The song is done in standard tuning in the Kay of A. Use a capo on the second fret, and also on the 7th fret for the 5th string. Tablature for both songs is available on Dave Hum&#39s website for purchase. Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>I wanted to make a backing track for something different than from songs that Dave Hum did, simply to carry on Dave&#39s tradition of learning new songs. I heard him say that there are so many songs and so little time. He sure was right about that. I used this YouTube video of ?Blue Ridge Cabin Home? as a template. This particular recording was done by Lester Flatt and Mac Wiseman. The song is in the Key of G. Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>I found this melodic song, ?Saint Anne&#39s Reel,? which sounds nice on the 5-string banjo. It is done in Standard Tuning, in the Key of G. Despite its popular association with Ireland, St. Anne?s Reel is actually of French-Canadian origin. The inspiration for the 1929 tune comes from a quaint French village named Baie Sainte Anne, situated on St. Anne?s Bay, near the mouth of Miramichi Bay in New Brunswick.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Here is a traditional Irish reel that I learned from Dave Hum called, &#39The Traveller.&#39 It is also known as, &#39Walker Street.&#39 I used his recording on YouTube as a template to make this backing track. Dave plays it in standard tuning in the key of A (capo 2nd fret, and 7th fret of fifth string), but I have also made backing tracks in the keys of A and G for your preference. I posted some tabs for this song on the forum. I tabbed the entire first half of the song as Dave Hum played it. The second half pretty much just repeats everything. Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>This is a fun fiddle song to learn and play, which uses plenty of the melodic style. I used Dave Hum&#39s YouTube recording, &#39Bill Cheatham (2),&#39 as a template to make my backing track. I made backing tracks in both the keys of A and G for your preference, but Dave recorded it in A. I made the woodshed speed nice and slow, so you can learn the song. Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>&#39The Ballad of Jed Clampett&#39 is the theme song for the popular 1970&#39s television series: The Beverly Hillbillies. The song was composed by Paul Henning and recorded first by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs in 1962. This was the first song I ever heard Dave Hum play in 2018, and it was so beautiful the way he played it (starting at 48 seconds into the song) that I literally cried. I had never heard anybody play the banjo that way before. I used Dave&#39s recording as a template to make my backing track to share with everyone. I&#39ve made backing tracks in both the keys of A and G (Dave plays the song in A). I love this popular Bluegrass song. Enjoy</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>The origin of Cripple Creek is unknown, but many musicians believe the song is named after Cripple Creek, Virginia. The song doesn&#39t seem to date further back than the year 1900. I made this backing track for the classic banjo favorite, Cripple Creek. Dave Hum did it in the key of A. I have made backing tracks for both the keys of A and G for you. Enjoy!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>&#34Mississippi Sawyer&#34 is a traditional &#39Old Time&#39 instrumental tune from Europe, originally titled: &#34The Downfall of Paris.&#34 The song is better known in the American South and among American fiddlers as &#34Mississippi Sawyer.&#34 As usual, I used Dave Hum&#39s YouTube video as a template to make my backing track. Dave uses an interesting tuning (aDGBD). It is a G chord with an added 9th note (the A). So I guess you could call it the G9th Tuning. Just capo the fifth string on the 7th fret.</itunes:summary>
