For Sale: Clareen Oyster 17-fret Tenor Banjo - $2,750 CAD ($1,933.31 USD)

2004 Clareen Oyster 17-fret tenor banjo with resonator. Made in Ireland. 21” scale length; 11” rim; 13 1/2” resonator. Bird’s eye maple neck with ebony headstock overlay; ebony fretboard; flame maple resonator back. Gold-plated hardware; Schaller tuners with ivoroid tuning buttons. Set up with phosphor bronze strings in GDAE and 5/8” bridge. Clareen banjos are built in Ireland, and this banjo was built during the pre-CNC time when the pearl and abalone “marine motif” and logo inlays were hand-cut. Flange leaves can be individually removed so that the banjo can be used as a short-scale, open-back instrument.

Excellent condition overall, no cracks or repairs, neck is straight; minor finish-only aging cracks evident on the resonator; one ding on the headstock’s logo was partially repaired – noticeable only when you look for it. Comes in a newer Clareen ABS tenor banjo case.

$2,750 CAD plus shipping and insurance; no trades please. Shipping in Canada only (sorry, no Paypal); personal delivery/pickup in the Maritimes can be arranged to avoid outrageously high shipping costs. Additional pictures available on request.

The new cherry version of the popular Vega Vintage Star features a quartersawn cherry neck and a 3-ply cherry rim. The cherry wood gives the banjo a distinctively classy reddish hue which will darken over time with a gorgeous patina. The beautiful aesthetics isn't the only thing the cherry wood brings to this banjo. It also gives the banjo a bit warmer tone than the standard maple version, while still maintaining plenty of brilliance.

For Sale: Iucci Sinfonico Style 3 Tenor Banjo - $2,150 USD

This is an extremely rare gold-plated Iucci Style 3, 19-fret tenor banjo, fully set up and ready to be played immediately. Iucci banjos were made in NYC in the late 1920s and are considered to be very high-quality banjos and great collectibles (see linked discussion forum for extensive information on Iucci). Aside from their rarity, these banjos are absolute cannons - they have a resonator width of 14 and 1/4 inches, and that size is greatly reflected in the volume that these banjos put out. This banjo is in incredible condition for its age, and features gorgeous gold-plating and intricate neck inlay. This instrument also features a rare, factory-original mute, as seen attached to the side of the pot. This banjo comes with a period-correct hard shell case, and weighs in at just over 13 pounds. The banjo is setup for Irish tuning, GDAE, with a top frosted head. This specific banjo is located in Carlisle, PA - local pickup or buyer pays shipping, can ship overseas. Price is in USD, priced competitively based on Style 3 valuation from 2015 value assessment (see discussion URL).

For Sale: 1927 Gibson PB-4 No-Hole Archtop with 5-String Frank Neat Neck - $5,650 USD

Emails are not working on BHO for me. They seem to disappear, and never get forwarded. Please text a text to 812-972-5197 Thanks--

Update: I took off the Mitchel's Tone Ring Mate per a request from someone who is looking for a true archtop. I've also taken off the 200.00 and will sell the tone ring mate separately. I will post some updated pictures as I get time.

Up for sale is a great sounding 1927 No-hole Gibson banjo. She's almost 100 years old, but plays and sounds super.

A few years back, I took this banjo down to Curtis McPeake for him to set it up. He once posted on-line that if you need the flathead sound, you need a flathead banjo. The first thing that came out of his mouth was "This sounds like a flathead." This was with the tone ring mate which has since been removed. Or if you live around the Louisville area, I encourage you to try it out before purchase. I am now selling the tone ring mate separately at this juncture.

I purchased this from DIV on this forum several years back. It has a mahogany neck and resonator. I have posted the serial numbers that all match to verify authenticity.

The frets have little to no-wear, and the metal components are in outstanding shape for a century year-old collectable.

SHIPPING: I am willing to ship, but prices are very high now. Let me know where you live, and I will provide cost estimate. If you live in the vicinity of IN/KY/OH/IL/TN/MO, I am willing to meet in person in order to keep shipping costs down.

With the original plectrum neck, some luthiers are offering to add wood to it and convert it over to a 5 string. As far as I know, the pot is all original except for one resonator screw that is colored differently. It could have come that way from factory, but I took a picture of the screws to be transparent.

I have the same user name on eBay, so I encourage you to look up my selling feedback (nearly 400 100% positive transactions). I also just sold a banjo for a friend here on BHO, and they love it.

I am looking to sell this outright, as I recently retired, and don't play all that much anymore. Please, no trade inquiries.

I am adding my phone info here because I had issues with receiving emails from the last sale.

For Sale: Yates Ron Stewart - $4,900 USD

The Ron Stewart Model is essentially a modern recreation of a prewar mahogany banjo (think '30s RB-3), but it has its own Yates touches, including the signature Yates neck carve as well as Yates' stylings and inlays. It has a Maple rim, and it is equipped with a bronze no-hole flathead tone ring, which Yates calls the Venom V33. It produces powerful pop and classic driving sound that is authentic to the best prewar originals. Like every Yates banjo, it is distressed and "relic-ed", too, so that it captures the same vibe and feel. On stage, the audience might think you're playing a banjo from the '30s, but in your hands, there is nothing quite like the tone and feel of a good Yates. Replaces tailpiece. Fresh setup, plays and sounds incredible!
