For Sale: Kalamazoo Oriole Mandolin - $1,200 USD

Vintage Kalamazoo by Gibson Oriole Mandolin. Early 1940s from what I’ve read.

~ Open to reasonable offers ~

This mandolin has been restored and plays well and sounds quite nice with lots of sustain. The work I’ve done to it includes replacing the broken braces with new pine braces that I made and installed, as seen in the last photo before gluing the back on. I’ve also glued and cleated a few cracks in the top and back among the numerous others that had been previously repaired by someone else. One brace had been cracked near the cross point and glued back, but allowed the top to sink in under the bridge. At one time someone had added posts between the top and back to support the top, which cracked the thin back as can be seen in two distinct spots in the middle. I also re-fitted the bridge to the top once the brace repair was made.

I believe the tuners, tailpiece, and cover are original to it. It had a pickguard at one time but was not with it when I obtained it. The action is currently a 1/16” at the 12th fret. Some wear to the first few frets. The nut is an older replacement, with the spacing a bit wider than the wear in the frets indicate. I worked a few of the slots down a bit to get it playing easier. Not sure if the bridge is original to it. Currently has a set of light D’Addario strings (.010-.038”) on it. Comes with a chipboard case that came with it.

Video of me playing it here: youtu.be/IwOVO9-_vow?is=dREOeELFMwUY41rx

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for looking!

Fender Player II Stratocaster HSS Modified

About This Original Fender Stratocaster

The Player II Modified Stratocaster® HSS is a classic guitar with the modern playerin mind. Everything about the neck is designed for fast and fluid playability, from the Modern “C”-profile with silky satin urethane finish on the back to thecomfy 9.5”-radius slab rosewood or 1-piece maple fingerboard with smooth rolled edges and 22 medium jumbo frets. The alder body provides classic Fender punch and is available in a variety of exciting new finishes. The Player II Modified humbucker is articulate with plenty of output while the noiseless™ pickups deliver classic Strat® chime and sparkle while eliminating unwanted noise. For additional tonal flexibility the push/pull switch on the 2tone control splits the bridge humbucker for classic Strat® single-coil tones. The 2-point tremolo,& short post locking tuners, TUSQ® nut and modern string tree all combine to keep tuning incredibly stable as the wider travel of the chamfered tremolo block allows players to coax even more expressive, musical vibrato from their instrument.

This Kentucky KM 670 is in excellent condition. There are a couple dings on the body, but you have to look really hard to see them. It has a solid hand carved spruce top and hand carved flamed maple back and sides. The finger board is rosewood. It is approximately 5 years old based on the serial number. There has been a Fishman style bridge pickup added and it sounds great. it might be a Fishman but I don't know for sure.

This is my seventh archtop guitar and 19th acoustic guitar overall. This is the second walnut archtop guitar I've made with a one-piece back, and I have enough wood in the board to make one more.?This guitar has a 17-3/8” lower bout width and is built mostly following the design in Bob Benedetto’s excellent book on archtop guitar construction. The scale length is 25”, the nut width is 1-3/4”, and the fretboard has a 12? radius. The back, sides, neck, blocks and linings are walnut, the headstock overlay, truss rod cover, fretboard, bridge, tailpiece and endpin are zebrawood, and the soundboard is Sitka spruce from Alaska Tonewoods. This guitar is finished with Tru Oil and has Gotoh tuners and a Corian nut. There is a two way truss rod in the neck. I don’t have a case for this guitar, as my supplier doesn’t have archtop cases. To see a video demonstration of this guitar please follow the link below:

I’m not a guitar guy nor can I really play one very well. This guitar is in very nice shape for 56 years old. It sounds great and plays well. Has some minor wear here and there but a solid performer. That spot on the back of the headstock isn’t a crack, I’m not sure what it is. Almost like a flaw in the wood and it’s only on the surface. Comes with its Martin HSC in great shape as well.

This rare octave mandolin was hand-built by Walter Johnson of June Mandolins and Guitars in Wytheville, Virginia. Johnson has been crafting mandolins and guitars since 2001 in his small one-man shop, producing only 6–8 instruments per year. Each instrument takes 8–12 months to complete and features hand-applied varnish finish on all builds — a traditional finish that allows the wood to breathe and resonate better than modern polyurethane. This JA5 74 has a 14 1/4-inch scale length and a 1 3/16-inch nut width, making it easier to play for those with smaller hands while still delivering the deep, rich G-D-A-E octave tone with powerful projection.1 piece back and an Adirondack spruce top

The fingerboard features a slight radius for comfortable playability. This is a true Made in USA instrument from a dedicated American craftsman who builds in Southwest Virginia. Johnson’s instruments are known for beautiful tone and are recommended by players who value handcrafted quality over mass production. This is an excellent opportunity to own a collector-quality mandolin at a much better price. Perfect for bluegrass, folk, and solo players seeking deep tone with superior playability. with a great bluegrass chop

For Sale: Pederson Custom Mandola 1988 - $3,500 USD

Offered here is an exceptional and rare Craig D. Pederson mandola, built in 1988 during his highly regarded Santa Fe period. This is serial number 66, a very early example of Pederson’s work, and a documented custom commission for Sam Arnold—placing it firmly in the category of serious, handbuilt luthier instruments rather than production pieces. Craig made his own cases completely custom, this one being exceptionally fine.

Pederson’s instruments from this era are known for their violin-inspired construction, refined carving, and tonal sophistication. This mandola is no exception—delivering a voice that is rich, balanced, and highly articulate, with excellent projection and sustain. The F-hole configuration provides added focus and clarity, making it equally suitable for ensemble work, Celtic playing, or solo performance.

The depth is 2 1/4 inches

The width is 11 7/8 inches

The nut width is 1 5/16

the scale length is 17 1/4 inches

Tone & Playability? This instrument has the kind of mature, open voice that only comes with time—warm low end, clear mids, and a sweet, singing high register. It responds effortlessly to both a light touch and more aggressive playing, with strong note separation and dynamic range. A true player’s instrument.

Construction & Features

? Hand-carved spruce top

? Figured maple back and sides

? Violin-style arching and graduation

? F-hole design for projection and focus

? Built in Santa Fe, New Mexico (1988)

? Serial #66 (early production)

? Custom-made for Sam Arnold

Condition?Overall excellent condition. The instrument did experience a top seam separation in the past, which has been professionally repaired and is fully stable. This is a common, non-structural issue on carved instruments and does not affect tone or playability. Otherwise, the mandola is very clean with only light signs of careful use.

Why This Instrument?Pederson mandolas are rarely seen on the market, and examples from this early Santa Fe period are especially scarce. While not a mass-market name, Pederson’s work is highly regarded among knowledgeable players for its craftsmanship and tonal depth. This is an opportunity to own a boutique, concert-level mandola at a price point well below comparable modern custom builds.

Summary

? Rare early Pederson mandola (Santa Fe era)

? Low serial number (#66)

? Documented custom build

? F-hole configuration (desirable and versatile)

? Excellent tone and playability

? Professionally repaired seam, fully stable

A compelling instrument for the serious player or collector looking for something distinctive, responsive, and musically inspiring.

For Sale: 1986 MIJ Fender Telecaster Forrest Lee Jr. B-bender,Lollar pickups, with video - $1,998 USD

1986 Fender Telecaster, made in Japan,(aka the '62 Custom model), sunburst, double bound cosmetics, equipped with a Forrest Lee Jr. B-bender. I was going for a Clarence White sound, so I installed a Lollar J-Street bridge pickup and Lollar Royal T neck pickup. Hot pickups, and they sound great in this guitar. Serious Clarence vibes; the bender can even be adjusted to have the “long pull” like Clarence’s original Tele.

The Tele is in good shape for a forty year old guitar, just normal cosmetic wear, everything totally functional and ready to gig out of the box. Though the '80s Japanese Fenders are sought after now, a former owner sanded the "Made In Japan" label off the back of the neck (I've seen more than one like that; I guess people used to have an inferiority complex about MIJ Fenders). Compensated saddles, upgraded electronics (original saddles, pickups and switch included). Hardshell Fender-style case included, as well as a padded gig bag.

The guitar sounds amazing, with the Lollar J-street bridge pickup sounding hot and twangy and the Royal T neck pickup sounding full bodied and Strat-y; if you're a fan of Clarence and/or Marty Stuart, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The bender works great, smooth and even (more to my liking than the P/G benders I've tried). It's such a blast to play, and I know I'm going to regret parting with it but there is other gear on the horizon; something has to move out before the new one moves in. This is a country rock machine that feels great and sounds great; no issues, new Super Slinkys 9s, ready to gig out of the box. $1998 OBO + 90.00 UPS Ground. Sorry, no trades (raising funds for another purchase).
